How to Pitch the Thing Before It Exist
Creator CoLab with Nashville PBS: September 23, 2025
This fall, I’m teaming up with the Nashville Film Festival and Nashville PBS for the Creator CoLab, a night of networking, panels, and workshops for filmmakers and creators.
On Tuesday, September 23, 2025, I’ll be leading a session called How to Pitch the Thing Before It Exists. The title says it all: before there’s a greenlight, a grant, or even a finished script, there’s a pitch. That first impression—the way you communicate your idea—often determines whether your project gets read, funded, or developed.
In this workshop, we’ll break down:
What makes a pitch deck effective—and why most miss the mark
How to tailor your deck for different audiences, from funders to festivals
Ways to communicate tone and concept with clarity
Why the “why now” matters as much as your logline
A repeatable framework you can apply to any project
You’ll leave with practical tools, real examples, and a stronger way to talk about your work, no matter where you’re starting from.
The Creator CoLab will be held at Studio A at Nashville PBS (161 Rains Ave, Nashville, TN) from 6:00 to 8:00 PM CDT.
