How to Pitch the Thing Before It Exist

Creator CoLab with Nashville PBS: September 23, 2025

This fall, I’m teaming up with the Nashville Film Festival and Nashville PBS for the Creator CoLab, a night of networking, panels, and workshops for filmmakers and creators.

On Tuesday, September 23, 2025, I’ll be leading a session called How to Pitch the Thing Before It Exists. The title says it all: before there’s a greenlight, a grant, or even a finished script, there’s a pitch. That first impression—the way you communicate your idea—often determines whether your project gets read, funded, or developed.

In this workshop, we’ll break down:

  • What makes a pitch deck effective—and why most miss the mark

  • How to tailor your deck for different audiences, from funders to festivals

  • Ways to communicate tone and concept with clarity

  • Why the “why now” matters as much as your logline

  • A repeatable framework you can apply to any project

You’ll leave with practical tools, real examples, and a stronger way to talk about your work, no matter where you’re starting from.

The Creator CoLab will be held at Studio A at Nashville PBS (161 Rains Ave, Nashville, TN) from 6:00 to 8:00 PM CDT.
